Project summary:

In the past my work has been influenced by my fascination with domestic routine and the consequences of actions that make an impact to form a visual trace, a mark left behind and recorded in history.

My recent body of work has been an investigation into how my textiles work could be translated into ceramics. At first clay seemed to be quite difficult to work with. I found it hard and I was challenged to adapt to a new way of working. This forced me out of my usual comfort zone.

Upon further investigation and experimentation, I found porcelain the ideal material to work with as its transparency and fragility reflected and translated the narrative that I was trying to portray.

Each ceramic piece has been screen printed several times and fired. Following this I applied ceramics transfers to the surface and finished with lustre glaze.

AA2A has given me so much more confidence and enthusiasm as a maker, it has been such a valuable experience and I have learnt a great deal.
