Previous AA2A Artist

Project summary:

My motivation to apply for the AA2A residency scheme at Hull School of Art & Design was primarily in order to access the printmaking and library facilities. I’d chosen to begin a period of self led research and professional development to prepare me for the prospect of returning to further education to study for an MA in Painting in 2009.

The scheme exceeded my expectations in terms of the technical support I was offered and the high standard of the facilities available for me to use.

I was invited to give a lecture about my artistic practice midway through the access period. This not only enabled me to give students and staff an insight into my wider practice but also encouraged me to reflect introspectively about my current creative aims.

I value the opportunities for mutual exchange and the practical printroom competence I’ve developed as a result of my involvement with HSAD and now look forward to exhibiting a new body of prints and paintings completed during the AA2A scheme, within the foyer gallery, along with fellow resident artist James Wear.
