Project summary:

My installations are composed of objects and sculptures that I have developed using elements of familiar handcrafted utilitarian pieces and more mass-produced design classics as building blocks. I treat the potentials of mass-production and cottage industry without hierarchy and combine and contrast them to question their relative perceived values.

I often have ideas for prints that I could display in conjunction with constructed objects and sculptural forms and through the AA2A scheme at Hull I'd like to use the screen-printing facilities to realise some of these ideas. I think that becoming involved in the production of images and furthering my knowledge of screen-printing techniques would help to inform my approach to three-dimensional design.

I am also interested in exploring the possibilities of fabric printing processes with a view to upholstering forms using my own fabric patterns. I'd like to adapt traditional techniques of furniture covering to create soft modern design pieces with illusions of utility.
