Project summary:

My practice explores the performative nature of the built environment, how architecture is constructed, historically and ideologically, through its representation. I have previously explored this 'spatial production' through sculptural constructions made specifically for photographic and moving image reproduction, often engaging with specific sites and their contextual histories as starting points for projects.

I am currently researching and developing a new body of sculptural work in ceramics to emerge out of photographic representations of 20th Century design and architecture. It is a development which proposes a form of material, three-dimensional re-enactment of spaces and events that have subtly, yet inextricably, become part of our relationship to history and architecture. I propose to work with a variety of ceramic processes, from tile-making to slip-casting, towards large-scale installation work.

This opportunity will enable me to realise a significant new development in my practice by providing access to dedicated facilities and a critically engaged environment. I am excited about the opportunity to share my practice and working processess and hope to have an inspiring and encouraging impact on the students at Camberwell College of Arts.
