2009-10
Project summary:

As part of the AA2A program, I would like to produce a series of large scale paintings that question and challenge perceptions of what it means to be British. This opportunity will enable me to work in an environment conducive to me making meaningful work, as I will be surrounded by peers who can share ideas with, but will also give me critical feedback on my work. Something I miss about being part of the college environment. It will aslo give me the opportunity to afford to make large canvases of high quality. I enjoy the process of making the canvas myself. I must admit, I do feel slightly detached from painting I’ve produces in which I know another has made the canvas for. I would like to produce a body of highly finished, resolved work that I can present in numerous exhibitions, exposing my work to the Art world. I feel now is a crucial time for me to seriously start making work. I am at the point in my career where the work I produce will be very exciting. Taking time out to work and travel has given me time to articulate my ideas. I now know exactly the type of work I want and need to produce. The BA, was a time for experimention resulting in me producing unresolved work. My recent pieces definately have stronger content, and are more resolved. The AA2A scheme will enable me to build on this
