Year:
2009-10
Project summary:

My practice is concerned with the observation and re-interpretation of social collectivity, exploring social mechanisms that produce both imposed forms of collectivity and self-organised forms of collectivity. Work takes the form of moving image works, performance, text-works and photography.

Currently my research revolves around the transformation of social and political contexts and constructs into visual form and physical experience.

The project I would like to develop during AA2A would be concerned with how political ideologies and national identity are transformed through print. Looking at the historical relationship between political activism and print, taking as a starting point the conceptual links between visual aesthetics of typography / print production and the ideologies within political activism.

I want to develop new work that will push a new direction within my practice - testing and experimenting with using both print-based and moving image based media within a new work - something I have never done before. To have access to specific equipment over a period of time will be an incredibly freeing process in my practice, allowing me to experiment in a more in-depth way. This would inform the development of my work, both practically and conceptually.
