About me:
Born 1969, Philadelphia, USA
BA(Hons) Design, Glasgow School of Art, 2006
I work in mixed media, mainly clay, fibre, wallpaper, and natural found objects, to create site-specific installations that reflect domestic interiors. During my AA2A placement, I aim to create woven and knitted textiles that incorporate small ceramic objects.
Since 2006, my work has been included in numerous juried and invitational exhibitions, and I was honored with solo exhibitions in 2009 and 2011. in 2010, I created a temporary site-specific installation for Philadelphia International Airport. A new solo installation, 'Doily Diary' (described further below), will be exhibited in January 2013.
News:
In 2013, watch for images of my upcoming solo show, 'Doily Diary', on my Web site. 'Doily Diary' opens at the Clay College, Millville, NJ, USA, on 14 January 2013 - one year to the day after moving from Philadelphia to the United Kingdom. As a marker of that transition, I've crocheted a doily every day since my arrival. In January, I'll take the doilies back to the USA, dip them in porcelain slip and fire them; the porcelain will retain the form and memory of the original doily even as the thread burns away. I'll then stitch the doilies to handmade calendars representing each month of 2012 and install them at the Clay College.
