I have been living in east London for the past 10 years making work for sale and display in various outlets. My background is in metal work but I came across a ceramic process in 2008 that I found captivating.

The technique that I use is a combination of coil and slab building that is only made possible with the addition of paper to the clay. I create a unique texture that I highlight with pigments as I like to retain the raw effect of the making process,

So far I have made various forms: Bottles, vases, bowls and figures; by building up layers of paper-clay to build a fragile surface of torn fragments make the pieces look vulnerable and seem ethereal.

I am going to continue with this technique to make forms of objects that have become obsolete items that were once part of everyday life, resurrected within the fragmented cocoons of paper clay. By doing this I hope to explore the connections between past and present. Thought they may not be clearly symbolic of objects from the past there may be a resonance between those forms and our lives today.
