Brief description: This opportunity will help me regain my focus and provide me with space and time to create new work and experiment on new ideas. I would like to continue exploring the use of text and image in my paintings.

About me:

In my work, I investigate myriad of possibilities by combining text and image in carefully balanced compositions. This integration is a significant element in my work.

I am interested in the interplay of positive and negative spaces and employ them in compositional arrangements either in colour or black and white. I also explore a complex network of themes around Africa's relationship with the West.

I paint with oils, watercolour and acrylics on various supports. It is my aim to be able to produce a body of work on this residency, meet and interact with other artists and students, be of some benefit to students and ideally have a show at the end of the residency.
