About me:

A London-based artist, I graduated in 2010 from Central Saint Martins and have exhibited in London, Manchester, Kent and Berlin, most recently as part of the Whitstable Biennale Satellite Projects 2012.

Working mainly in video, installation and performative writing, my work explores female identity and experience in relation to domestic space and popular culture. Currently I am collaborating with an illustrator on a graphic novel exploring the memory of place in relation to personal and collective history. This has involved visits and research on places such as Greenham Common, a notoriously haunted woodland in West Sussex and various areas touched by WWII in my mother’s homeland of Germany. I am also developing a body of work exploring the presence and experience of women in the punk, hardcore and metal scenes through video whilst exploring the potential for zines and self publications to forge connections between the artist and other communities.

Through participating in the residency, I would like to re-immerse myself in the atmosphere of an art school and have the opportunity to connect with students and AA2A artists. I’m looking forward to getting the chance to receive feedback after a couple of years developing my practice and exhibiting outside of the critical framework and peer structure of the art school. I’m happy to share any stories or knowledge I’ve gained post-graduating with current students, from getting exhibitions to finding work.

I am also excited to make use of links to creative resources within Reading; living and working in London, I always find the chance to take my practice elsewhere really refreshing. Reading has a vibrant art department, and I’m looking forward to exhibiting with the other artists at the end of the residency.
