About me:
I specialise in Textile Design, creating high end fabrics for Fashion and Interiors. I graduated from Chelsea College of Art in 2009 and since then have been working freelance in Design and Consultancy and Lecturing at Hereford College of Art. I believe in testing the boundaries of what textiles can be, my work explores mixed media embellishment and surface design in which I incorporate experimental techniques and material combinations to create innovative and original textiles.
I used the AA2A scheme at Hereford College of Art as an opportunity to research a concept of Sustainability through Interactive and Experience Design. This is an area of research I developed during my degree dissertation and since graduating has been something I have wished to pursue.
The collection is a playful response to the more serious issue of mass consumerism, by experimenting with pattern and layers of laser cut and screen printed wood I created designs that are adaptable and involve their audience. By creatively utilising potential experiences within a product, inviting interaction and encouraging creativity I created designs that are able to evolve. I hope to have created a series of works that challenge how people think about the longevity of pattern and design in an Interior environment.
