My main focus is to carry out silkscreen printing using the CMYK technique which I have not used since I dabbled with it when I did my degree. This will involve creating photorealistic imagery on silkscreens and will be used to print four layers of imagery, one on top of the other. This will be an exciting challenge and will push my work forward in a new direction. Part III ‘Dessert – She had her cake and she ate it’ will concentrate on why diets fail and what contributes to these failures. I would also like to carry out some experimental printing, creating samples to use as inspiration for future art projects.
I would like to show the completed artwork in 2012 in a 62 Group of Textile Artists’ exhibition. 2012 is a special year as it is our 50th anniversary which will be celebrated with five exhibitions, and the publication of a new book ‘Radical Thread’. The shows will be around the country which will allow students to see the inception of an idea blossom into print, and then have the opportunity to see the completed artwork on display in one of the shows. An important aim is to demonstrate to students that they too can complete their degrees with confidence, and with lots of determination and some good fortune, know they too will be able to achieve their own success stories.
