Working alongside the new, but exceptionally experienced and knowledgeable Print Technician Alfons Bytautas, I have had my first taste of cyanotypes. The colour has influenced the direction of the final piece I will attempt to make for the AA2A culminating exhibition in Project North Space in April. The work will be made in glass, with prints that reference the ideas behind blueprints and drawing. I have been searching the archives at Tyne & Wear Museums to find some original Naval Architect curves, used when drawing up design for ships & boats in the North East. I was particularly struck by the composite ships made on the river Wear, which are the equivalent of 'flat pack' ships that were made to be shipped out and assembled later. I hope make a printed Artist's Book using laser cutting technology.
