Work exhibited or made during my time in an empty shop in Penrith.
With help from Eden Arts, I had a shop in the Devonshire arcade for two weeks and then another two weeks where I could leave work in the window. A fortnight was quite a long time to be on show and to have people come in and chat and watch you work - or huddle round the heater. It was a cold time and I had the door open to encourage passers by to come in. The local paper took photos and did an article on the arcade and also Radio Cumbria. I had a great time. Fellow artist Janis Young also from Penrith was working next door using plaster and glass.
One project was to ask for peoples thoughts on the town, things they liked as there has been many problems with planning in the town and we have been left with a big empty hole in the ground. I put words onto bricks I made with decay at the back of the brick indicating what will happen to the place if it is not cared for properly. I think these photos will go on the next album.
