Show in Luxembourg

November 9, 2009 by Nicola Powys   Comments (1)

, ,

Have been asked to exhibit in this three woman show next Spring! The theme is "Transitions" which totally fits in with the kinetic sculpture I am hoping to produce during my Mondays at ARU. God knows how I will get the piece to Europe - train probably - I have been known to drive to Florence and back in a weekend to put up a show - but would not recommend it!

Still, it's a goal! I am still furiously working on the mechanics of the piece and meanwhile making stretchers and trying to keep the energy of different ideas alive over the four day mind-job that is my teaching work. Very exciting - I love to have lots of things on the go at the same time - each one stimulates the other. Now I just have to keep well ( am surrounded by people who cough like they are taking their last breath!)

Welding and carborrundum

Tried both for the first time today! The technicians at ARU are really helpful which is great because I only have Mondays to take advantage of them and the facilities! So I turn up at a god forsaken hour in the morning - way before coffee, and I question, demand and experiment before anyone has time to object or ask me who the hell I think I am!

Lack of time and space means that I continue to work through the paintings in my studio - but I now have a Grand Idea for a Dream Machine that i am becoming obsesed with and that will probably be the end of me!

Being a Ludite, I have not worked out how to respond to other artists blogs on this site in an immediate way. One of the aspects that drew me to the scheme was the idea of some interaction with other like-minded individuals - so if someone could show me how to do this, I would be grateful because there are some interesting looking projects out there!

Thanks,

Nicola
