Have you voted for your favourite AA2A artist of 2011/12?

- Voting is easy: every artist's profile page on this site has a link to 'vote for this artist' or you can go directly to the voting page here: http://aa2a.org/artistvote

- Voting closes at the end of May

- You can vote for any of this year's artists from any college, whether it's because you like their work in college or online or just that they are good at involving students and communicating their knowledge and enthusiasm.

- The winning artists will be promoted on our Websites and Pages, and the Students’ choice will have their project featured in London at the AA2A College Briefing Day.

- The student vote is for students at participating AA2A colleges (there's also a 'Public Vote' for students from other colleges or members of the public - including artists and college staff).

If you've already voted, please encourage your friends!

Thanks

AA2A Dotbiz Getting Started Tutorial - available now!

April 4, 2012 by Georgia Rodger   Comments (0)

We have produced our first attempt at a 'screencast' aimed at helping new Dotbiz users get started using the site.

This seven minute tutorial covers Registration, Logging in, Creating your profile, Changing settings and Lost passwords.  We recommend that you have the Dotbiz website on screen whilst playing and pausing our video as you follow on the actual site.  If you've used the site before this training probably won't be necessary for you although you might find it useful as a refresher.  We will be producing screencast tutorials on 'Image Albums' and 'Blogging' soon and will let you know when these are available.

Best wishes,

Georgia & the AA2A team

New: RSS Blog feeds on Dotbiz

We now have RSS feed available on all blogs on Dotbiz! RSS (Really Simple Syndication) allows you to easily read blogs in a standardised format and you can also subscribe to an RSS feed.

From any Dotbiz user's profile page (whether artist, student, college or AA2A staff) you'll see under their blog posts on the right hand side 'RSS' - selecting this will take you to the RSS feed for this Dotbiz user and may also give you options to subscribe.  You may want to use this to promote your blog by suggesting people subscribe to your RSS feed.

Here goes... a 5 point guide to replacing your webpage 'grey head'

First find an image (preferably a JPG) you want to use then Sign in with your username and password  (username is the last bit of the web address for your page and is usually based on your first name. You can also get a new password sent to your email if you've forgotten it)

1.  Click on 'MY PROFILE'  (to the right of Twitter, Facebook logos)

2. Click on 'EDIT PROFILE'  (to the right of your name)

3. Click on 'EDIT PROFILE ICON'  (on the left in blue)

4. Click on 'CHOOSE FILE', find your file/image in the menu & click 'Choose'

5. Click 'UPLOAD'

The rest is optional (eg. dragging a square across the image to make the small icon how you want it)

GOOD LUCK and thankyou for uploading Dotbiz!

Hi Dotbiz users

We're pleased to announce voting for the favourite artists of 2011/12 is open!  This is a great way for us to raise the profile of the scheme, involve students and get more exposure for this website.  On every artist's profile there is a link to 'vote for this artist'.

There's a public vote too - for your peers, lecturers, college staff, students from non-AA2A colleges and any other fans!

Here's a link to go directly to the AA2A Voting Page

The winning artists of the public vote and the student vote will both be promoted on our websites, facebook and twitter pages and one will have the opportunity to have their project featured in London at the AA2A Briefing Day in July. Click here to see previous Featured Artists

It's fantastic to see interaction between the artists and student reps who've joined us on Dotbiz in the last couple of week, so big thanks to them and all the dotbiz users who've been posting and uploading.  Dont' forget if you have any trouble using the site, you can search for 'help' and find mine and Wendy's help blogs.

Best wishes

AA2A: Introduction, thanks, help & pic of the week!

November 3, 2011 by Georgia Rodger   Comments (0)

Hi AA2A Artists 2011/12!

I'll start by properly introducing myself, I'm the AA2A national coordinator and I work part-time on the project with Wendy Mason (AA2A national director) and Jim Pledger (AA2A administrator). I'm also a practising artist, based in London, I work mostly in sculpture, performance and film.

Well that's enough about me, now you! It is an absolute pleasure to manage this website and see day to day the new image albums and blogs you're putting up.  Thank you if you've already started sharing your work, and if you haven't yet we look forward to seeing your work soon.  If you're already in college do let people know they can see your work on this site.  Also if you put work up  onto the site you're in with a chance of being our 'Pic of the Week' on the AA2A Twitter and Facebook pages (our weekly posts showcasing work from the AA2A Dotbiz networking site).  We have to tell you we've been absolutely spoilt for choice!  Have a look at this week's:
AA2A Twitter     AA2A Facebook

If you have any trouble with image albums, have a read through Wendy's help blog:   Wendy's image album help blog  If you're still having trouble just email/message us.

More about voting soon but if you'd like to see the winning AA2A artists of last year (as voted for by students/public) they now each have a feature on our other website:  Artists Features

Best wishes

Help uploading image albums

October 24, 2011 by Wendy Mason   Comments (0)

, , , ,

Welcome to AA2A and to our networking site 'Dotbiz'.

As a few of you are already uploading images (thanks for that) we thought we'd include a few notes on uploading and editing albums.  Do let us know if you ever get stuck.  We're here to help.

Create an image album

1. Select ‘Create new album’ from side menu:

2.  ‘Add image album’, enter a Title, Description, etc. (You can also edit ‘access’ – to control who can see the album).

3.  ‘Save’ and you’ve now created the folder that the images will go in.

4.  Add images to album, ‘browse’ and select the images you want  (must be under 1mb and a .jpg .png .gif) select the image/s ‘upload’ and when you’ve finished - ‘Save’

5.  Edit image properties - add individual title, caption, tags - Also you need to select one of your images as the image album cover, finally ‘save’

To make changes to an existing album

1. Go to 'Your image albums'

2. click on the album

3.  You can then choose to ‘add images to album’, ‘edit album’ (where you can change 'access' to 'Public', 'Private', 'Logged in Users') or ‘delete album’

DACs Payback time!

Hi AA2A artists

Did you know that if your work has appeared in a-n, Crafts (and most other magazines) you are entitled to money!...

"Any visual work that has been published in a UK book or magazine that has an ISBN/ISSN/Barcode number on it is valid for inclusion in a Payback claim. This is even if that work is included in an advert."

DACS (Design & Artists Copyright Society)

You may already claim but just in case this is all new to you, I would encourage you to register with DACs and see if you can claim as it really is 'money for nothing'!

The last day for claiming for this year is Friday 9th Sept 2011.

If you've got any questions - please contact DACs directly: payback@dacs.org.uk

Best wishes
