Spending more time in the studio - running between wax pots and porcelain pieces - in different rooms so getting lots of exercise as well.   Intend making two exhibition pieces with a common thread.  Embedding lint in wax blocks, then working into them with soldering iron. Can't do this in the college as the fire alarm will probably go off from the wafting wispy smoke.  Not much better doing this at home, but at least I'm not poisoning everyone with the fumes.  Differing opinions as to whether paraffin wax is toxic - but I'm not taking any chances.  Face mask constantly on.

Porcelain pieces coming along nicely - getting some good effects from firing with wrapped wire.  Exciting to see the results - different each time.  Just need to take some good photos which will appear on here eventually.

Hi

I am AA2A at Worcester, making prints at the moment on aluminium.  I love the image you posted - the wrapped dipped hessian - what is it dipped in?  It will be exciting to see the next images! I haven't read your other Blog entries yet. Have you developed yur thoughts yet on what/why?

I spent quite q while ill so have had too much time spent on the what/why now just beginning the do!!

Thanks for your comments Jayne.  I'm not sure if this is the way to reply, the site isn't always easy to negotiate (at least that's just my experience - maybe it's just me).

The hessian pieces are from a while back when I first started AA2A in December. It's a fairly easy common process, tying hessian round kitchen roll tubes then dipping in earthenware slip.  The fired pieces are quite brittle but have interesting texture.  I've also made some wrapped with very thin wire which spreads during the firing process - it's all a matter of chance really.  I'm now concentrating on porcelain because of it's delicate qualities and the wire is leaving some quite beautiful metal imprints.   I'm just waiting for some to come out of the kiln and will get some more images onto the site.

Re developing the what and why - I usually work along the themes of house and home, mainly because that's my constant experience if that makes sense.  I use materials that I have to hand, i.e. lint from my dryer, wire that I use to make jewellery and anything else I happen to find.

best
