Hi AA2A artists and reps,

AA2A artists should have received the latest AA2A artists newsletter today (please get in touch if for any reason you haven't) in it we mentioned that as we’re more than half way through the AA2A year now's a great time for you to update Dotbiz with your news, progress and any exhibitions you’re involved in.  It's not too late to start using the site or do some catching up and if you get stuck, have a look at my 'help blogs' or you can message us through the site.  Let us know if you need reminding of your login details.

Also great news, today we had talks with DADA South (Disability Arts Development Agency) who've agreed to be one of our Disability Champions and will be helping us promote next year's scheme.

We'll be recruiting Diversity Champions next, so please let us know of any organisations you think we should approach.

Best wishes,

Georgia

AA2A: Project update

Hi AA2A artists and student reps,

Just an update of what we (the National AA2A team) have been up to this week.  We're opening the AA2A College Waiting list for the first time in two years, and inviting new colleges to host AA2A schemes.  Before we applied for funding we asked current colleges for a provisional sign up and whilst we have almost 30 institution it looks as if there'll be at least four places for new AA2A schemes in 2011-12.  So if you know of another University or College who might be interested in hosting a scheme please let us know and we will send them more information.

This week's 'Pic of the Week' on Twitter:

Ima Pico's 'Blob_4' was chosen as this week's Tweet showcasing images form Dotbiz - check it out on our AA2A Twitter page

If you read my blog last week you'll know we were tantalising close to our 100th Twitter follower (who we promised a virtual fanfare...)

So here it goes... ahem... Big Thanks and Congratulations to Catherine Ball (previous AA2A Artist at Cumbria)

And as we know have 104 followers we're looking forward to our 200th!

Best wishes,

Georgia

AA2A: Twitter - be our 100th follower!

Hi AA2A artists and reps,

We are very pleased to tell you we now have 98 followers on twitter; this means they're receiving news and highlights from us - in the form of 140 character messages.

From now on we're planning to Tweet twice a week - an early week tweet from me showcasing an image or a blog from Dotbiz and news or broader updates from Wendy towards the end of the week.

- Unlike Facebook you don’t have to have a Twitter account yourself to see what’s written.  This week I've linked to Peter-Ashley Jackson's blog about the AA2A exhibition at Northumbria Uni:

http://twitter.com/AA2Aproject

If you do want to sign up we can promise a virtual fanfare for the 100th follower (it could be you!) and if you start by following us and we'll ease you into it gently.

- If you have an account you can ‘Follow’ us (and also lots of other relevant arts organisations & many host Colleges) receive their Tweets

- These Tweets are then available on your Twitter site or can be picked up on your mobile phone.

- Its simply another communication tool limited to 140 characters.

- it’s easy - just type in ‘Whats happening?’ and “Tweet”!

The AN website has a great feature about how artists can use micro-blogging (Twitter):

New AA2A Student reps

Hi AA2A artists and student reps,

I'm pleased to welcome some more student reps at:

Camberwell College of Arts - Elvira Roslund Gustavsson

University Campus Suffolk - Angela Dow-Wright

Hull School of Art and Design - Michelle Dee

University of Hertfordshire - Rose Hall

(there are also reps at Liverpool, Lancashire, UCA and Manchester)

Almost a third of our colleges now have student reps - this means they have profiles on Dotbiz allowing them to interact with artists, through messages, comments and the main forum, and also have access to full exhibitions listings and all blogs/images.

AA2A artists: If you're college has not got a rep we are still looking for reps so next time you're in contact with any students (or if there's anyone you can think of who was particularly interested in the scheme) you might mention that we are still looking for AA2A student reps and for them to email me if they're interested :   georgia@aa2a.biz

Best wishes,

Georgia
